Roman Dolidze evened his series with Marvin Vettori and cemented his spot as a contender in the middleweight rankings.

Two years ago at UFC 286, it was Vettori leaving the octagon with his hand raised after winning a three-round decision over Dolidze; on Saturday, Dolidze proved to be the better man as he earned a five-round decision over Vettori with 49-46 scores across the board. It was a bitter pill for Vettori to swallow as he targeted a successful return after a lengthy layoff.

Like the first fight, the bout was contested primarily on the feet, but this time Dolidze was a step ahead of Vettori. Outside of a shaky moment in Round 3 when Vettori had Dolidze badly hurt, the Georgian standout did more than enough to win over the judges.

Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling felt Dolidze put on a convincing performance, writing on Twitter, “Very even scrap but I have Dolidze up on the scorecards. Finishing this round strong should seal the win for the Georgian powerhouse.”
