‘Such BS’: Pros react to Tank Davis vs. Lamont Roach controversial majority draw

Gervonta Davis escaped Brooklyn with his undefeated record in tact, but many believe that shouldn’t be the case.

Despite being about as big of a favorite as you can be in a main event fight, Davis and Lamont Roach battled to a majority draw at the Tank vs. Roach fight card on Saturday night. While the scorecards are deemed quite controversial, it pales in comparison to what happened in the ninth round — although, they go hand in hand.

The official scorecards read 115-113, 114-114, 114-114, but in Round 9, “Tank” took a knee out of nowhere before going to his corner because he forgot his mouthpiece — which in many cases would be considered a knockdown. The referee allowed it to happen with no repercussions, and the fight continued on following the head-scratching moment.

In the final rounds, Roach showed tremendous heart and was able to get to the cards, and may not have gotten his hand raised, but many feel like he was the winner.
