Watch Aline Pereira’s controversial TKO at Karate Combat 52

Aline Pereira moved to 2-0 in Karate Combat, but this time there was some controversy.

On Friday night, Pereira fought Amanda Torres in the co-main event of Karate Combat 52, and though she scored a second-round TKO finish, not everyone agreed with the result.

The opening round was fairly competitive between Pereira and Luna, with Pereira using her length and speed to set the distance and score on Torres, while Torres looked for big punches in return. Things heated up in the second round when Pereira upped her aggression and hurt Torres with a combination of shots, dropping her fellow Brazilian to the canvas. Pereira quickly pounced and flurried causing the referee to jump in immediately, despite Torres defending herself and going for a sweep.

Despite the controversy, Pereira — who is the younger sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira — is now 2-0 in Karate Combat and following her win, she and her team discussed the possibility of fighting for a title sooner rather than later.
